THE SHAWNEE MURALS
![]() |
The mural in Shawnee has two sides. This first side is over two stories tall. it greets travelers on the highway that bypasses the town. The scene was inspired by a poem a teen in Shawnee wrote. In the poem he discribed what "outsiders' think of Shawnee. |
| Artist Geoff Schenkel worked with the youth in Shawnee to design and paint the mural. It started during a summer youth program . | |
| The mural became a truely collaborative effort. Kids of all ages worked on the project. As they worked the mural changed and grew. |
