The WOUB Center for Public Media is involved in a number of distance learning initiatives which support instruction at Ohio University.
These projects include:
Ohio University Learning Network
The Ohio University Learning Network (OULN) encompasses a two-way audio and video television network linking Ohio University's main campus in Athens with its five regional campuses.
Media Center
The Media Distribution Center serves the Ohio University community with educational media services. The media center is the home of the University's OULN and cable systems. Other services include video production, both remote and in studio; reception and origination of teleconferences; videotape duplication; and assisting all faculty, staff, and students with media related needs. The Media Center also houses satellite reception equipment which provides programming for CATVision, the residence hall cable TV network coordinated through Residences and Auxiliary Services.
Program Catalog
The WOUB Center for Public Media's catalog of educational video materials is now online. For information about how to check out materials from the Center's collection, contact Kevin Price, Media Distribution Supervisor at (740) 593-4919. Distribution of these materials is restricted to instructional use by faculty and staff of Ohio University. These listings represent only a sampling of the tapes available in our library.
Program Production
The Center also produces audio and video programs to assist with specific instructional needs.
Teleconferences
The Center in Athens can originate live, satellite full motion teleconferences to be seen in almost any U.S. city and other countries. A recent teleconference was seen in over 30 locations simultaneously. The costs for a basic two-hour satellite teleconference is $5,000.
