1. Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center

2. Nelsonville Public Square
An old-fashioned public square, complete with the restored Dew Hotel, built in 1839, and the 1879 Stuart's Opera House, highlight downtown Nelsonville.
3. Hocking Valley Scenic Railway
This offers an historic train ride through a wooded section of the Hocking River Valley from Nelsonville to Haydenville or Logan. The train runs weekends, Memorial Day weekend through the end of Oct., and the first three weekends in Dec. Route 33, Nelsonville.
4. Stuart's Opera House
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Once the cultural centerpiece of the region, the opera house was used by professional touring companies from 1879-1924. Public Square, Nelsonville. 614-753-1924
5. Hocking Woods Nature Center
This has six different well marked trails and a boardwald originating at the Nature Center. Maps are available showing distance of trails and etimated hiking times. Hocking college, Hocking Parkway at Routes 691 and 33. 614-753-3591(ext. 2417/2316).
6. Robbins Crossing
This is a log cabin settlement on Hocking College's campus where students and community volunteers interpret life in the Hocking Valley as it was in the mid-1800s. The settlement is a regular stop for passengers aboard the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway. 614-753-3591(ext. 2417).
7. Millfield Mine Memorial
It's site of Ohio's worst mine disaster in 1930. Ruins of the mine and a memorial marker can be seen just outside Millfield.
8. Ohio University Airport
Local airport owned by Ohio University. Located in Albany about 10 miles from Athens city. It is opened for private use. 614-689-4114
